Today's Devotional From Pastor Batiste

Sep 2, 2025    Pastor Lamar Batiste

Yesterday was Labor Day, a day when we honor hard work and rest from our jobs. But while we pause from physical labor, Paul reminds us that laboring in the Lord is never in vain.

There are many things we pour our energy into—jobs, family responsibilities, personal goals. Some of those things bring temporary rewards, but only one kind of labor produces eternal fruit: the work of the gospel.

Paul says, “Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord.” That means our service, sacrifice, and commitment to kingdom work isn’t wasted—even when it feels unnoticed. Every prayer, every act of kindness, every word of encouragement, every testimony shared God sees it. And He multiplies it for His glory.

So, as you step back into this week, don’t just focus on what you do for a paycheck. Remember the greater labor you’ve been called to and that is working for the Lord. That’s the kind of work that never runs dry and always pays eternal dividends.

Reflection Question: What is one way you can “give yourself fully” to the work of the Lord this week?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for the opportunity to serve You with my time, gifts, and energy. Help me not to grow weary in kingdom work, but to stay steadfast, knowing my labor in You is never wasted. Amen.

“Earthly labor gives a paycheck. Eternal labor leaves a legacy.”
